Kate Pinkerton-Suicide Deaths Rise in Kids

Summary - Based off of the release of recent death rate data by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report showed the percent of children's death between 199 and 2014. While death due to automobile crashes has lessened significantly, suicide rates in children 10-14 has doubled. While many people think of suicide as only a problem in teens, it is a serious problem in children as well. The article tells how to prevent suicide in children by looking for signs of depression, such as kids who express the wish that they were dead or "wish they could go to sleep forever". Listening to children and identifying this unusual behavior could help with preventing children taking their lives-generally due to bad relationships with family or friends.

Analysis - The article was written in a time when suicide rates are on the rise. The author is obviously concerned about the death of children and teens due to suicide. They interviewed a clinical psychologist who studies child suicide, so the article is very informative. I think these tips to spot when a child is suicidal will help spread the word about the problem and prevent it from increasing further.
