On Monday, October 19th, the state of Texas renounced Planned Parenthood from the state's Medicaid program, using videos from anti-abortion activist groups of as proof of violation. As stated in a letter, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of the Inspector General believes that Planned Parenthood is ”no longer capable of performing medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal, and ethical manner,”.
Republicans have called for Planned Parenthood to be federally defunded while Democrats have said that, “Planned Parenthood provides important health care for women”. Republicans in the House voted to have a committee investigate Planned Parenthood, although to the objection of Democrats.
Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood, Dawn Laguens, offered a rebuttal. ”It is completely outrageous that Texas officials are using thoroughly discredited, fraudulent videos to cut women off from preventive health care. We will fight back against this outrageous, malicious, political attack in Texas with everything we've got, and we will protect women's access to the health care they need and deserve."

Issues regarding the morality of abortion are so difficult to handle because they are largely influenced by religion. Controversial topics, like the proper tax ratios among social classes, cans be debated within a completely political field. But history has taught us that religion and politics don't mix easily. This was a widespread issue in the New England colonies, and even led to the creation of the Rhode Island colony.

I work with an educational group that is partnered with Planned Parenthood, and it is almost comical seeing the false rumors people try to make up. PP is a great organization that saves lives. Only 3% of what they do deals with abortions, the rest is education and action to help prevent that option. We have to save PP!

  2. Are you kidding?!^^^ Any organization that deals with ending the life a child, which is what is in the womans womb, a living human being, is sickening. In my eyes there is no reason to take the life of someone, it is murder!, if someone does not want that baby that bad the least they could do is pit it up for adoption. Atleast that gives the child a chance to live and make something of themselves. Who knows that child may change the world, but we'll never know if we never give it the chance.

    1. While I doubt I can change your mind on abortion, please consider that abortion is only 3% of what PP does (like Carlos said). Planned Parenthood offers important healthcare to many people that wouldn't get it otherwise, and taking it away will leave many people without birth control, cancer screenings, and more.

    2. Yeah seriously Nick Watson, what goes on in a womans body is really none of anybody's business, but a woman's. Sometimes a child being put inside her is out of her control because of terrible things that happen such as rape. Also, Planned Parenthood has cured thousands of women from breast cancer, preforms mamagrams, and gives women access to birth control. -Kenley Turner

  3. I have one thing to say to say about this and one thing only. I don't believe rich white republicans who will never understand what it's like and have never been in such situation can decide what's right for all women as if they understand women better than women understand them self. Which is totally absurd. And if you disagree with it then you don't have too participate but to deny all women coverage takes away there own right's
