Student Shoots Principal by Deandra Whitmill

A 16 year old student from South Dakota was accused of shooting the principal at Harrisburg High School. According to police, the witness went into the office and got into a dissagreement with the principal and took out his gun and shot him. In South Dakota, if you are 16 you are trialed as an adult if you are facing a felony. The pricipal was shot in the elbow and was released from a nearby hospital.

At most schools all of the students go through metal detectors, so this school must not have had them. The school should be cautious of things such as this from now on. They should look into how the student got the gun and follow that also. They should trial teens according to what they did and also pick a good age range.

  1. This is insane to think that someone our age has the capability to go in to school armed and shoot the principal. I agree with Deandra in the fact that the school should really look into their security and figure out a way to prevent this from happening again.

I agree that all schools should have metal detectors. But its also crazy to think that a kid could judt pull out a gun whenever he wanted. Security really needs to be enforced at that school, what if he got mad at a student next time?
