This morning an Amtrak train de-railed in Vermont after striking a rockslide on the tracks. The conductor quickly hit the brakes, but by that time it was too late. Luckily, as this is American in 2015, hardly anybody was riding the train at all, and those that were passengers on it, for the most part, escaped without injury. Only 4 were injured, and those were very minor injuries. No deaths had been reported at all.
It is very fortunate that everybody made it out okay, many literal trainwrecks throughout history have shown devastating consequences to the passengers, the crew, and even bystanders tat just happened to be within the general vicinity of the collisions. Thank you, Amtrak, for having safe vehicles and letting everybody go home to their families after the crash.

Glad everyone is okay and hope those minor injuries are healed quickly. Maybe Amtrak should look into some kind of technology that would detect debris on the tracks, so as to prevent any further train wrecks.
ReplyDeleteStories like this, even with only minor injuries, scare the heck out of me.
