1.8 Million Cheerios Boxes Recalled by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: On Monday, General Mills issued a recall of some Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios boxes. They were labeled as gluten free but contained wheat. The recall was of approximately 1.8 million boxes of the cereal, and the company said that they would take back boxes from store shelves. Cheerios tweeted how an affected box could be identified.
Analysis: This was really dangerous! It's always scary to me when items get recalled like this. Even when you read the labels of a product, you really don't know what's in it 100%. It's especially dangerous for people who have food allergies; in this circumstance, an allergy to wheat-gluten. That being said, I think the way the Cheerios company handled this was really admirable; they admitted to the mistake, and even utilized social media to spread the word and keep their customers informed. Hopefully those affected by the Cheerios mishap are ok!
