Taytum Buford(Period 6)-McGraw-Hill Textbook

Summary:  A mom in Pearland, Texas got mad at a textbook company, McGraw-Hill Textbook because they called "immigrants", slaves. The mom, of a black son, took a video of the textbook and what is states. Soon, the video went viral and the textbook company saw it. McGraw-Hill then, in summary, gave this announcement:
"This week, we became aware of a concern regarding a caption reference to slavery on a map in one of our world geography programs. However, we took a closer look and realized that our words did not accurately capture the Africans that were forced in to migration and labor as slaves. We will do better."
They are now redesigning the textbook to put a more "accurate" representation of the Africans in slave labor.
Analysis:
Honestly, I think this is kind of obnoxious. The Africans back then were called slaves and that is just the fact of the matter. Of course I agree that black lives matter, but in reality, all lives matter too. I appreciate the mom's attempt  to help portray a point, but I don't think its okay to just go and change history like that to prove a point.

I find this quite shocking that something like this passed by the editors. I have been seeing multiple events like this happening where textbooks or curriculum is having to be rewritten due to mistakes. There was a mistake in the Texas geometry textbook and the APUSH curriculum had to be revised because it expressed liberal views.
