The End Of Donald Sterling's Ownership? - Lizy Rutherford 4th pd

After Donald Sterling was banned for life from attending any further Clippers' games, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver held a meeting with the leagues financial committee about Sterling's ownership. The committee has "unanimously agreed to move forward as expeditiously as possible and will reconvene next week." Sterling was fined $2.5 million for making racist comments to his mistress V. Stiviano.

I personally think Sterling is an irrelevant person (he's just another old white racist, I mean really, nothing special). He should've given up his ownership long ago because he's been sued for housing discrimination and sexual harassment. Yet for some reason it's only when he makes comments that the NBA actually does something about it, and not when he refused to house people on the basis of race. This is a direct reflection of American society: we're 'post-racial' but we only care about looking like we are instead of actually being that. That's why Sterling got away with the other crap he did 22 years ago.

  1. I agree. This is one instance where one guy is being punished for being a racist, but what about all of the other coaches that are doing and saying these things everyday, you can't address this thing every once in a while, its a continuous process
