A Japanese couple who was visiting America got caught up in a high speed chase in California due to misinterpretation. A woman was driving while her husband and 4 year old son were passengers. Police began to attempt to pull the couple over when they noticed swerving of the car suspecting that it was a drunk driver. The woman thought that it was someone else that the police was trying to pull over so she tried to get out of his way. The chase eventually ended with the blowout of three tires of the woman's car due to spikes put down to stop the car. When the police finally got a hold of them they realized that it was a misinterpretation and the couple could not speak English at all. The couple went away with no charges.
This was very freighting to read about. This just shows how people should really know the culture and the language of different countries if they plan to travel. This will help a lot of people prevent these things from happening.

Wow, how scary and confusing it must have been for them!
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how long this went on for and how someone could have got hurt all for a silly misunderstanding! But i'm glad they sorted things out.
ReplyDeleteHow did they get away with no charges when that puts so many people at risk??? That's ridiculous.
