"Search List Expands in Washington State Mudslide" (Melissa Kurtzman, 5th Period)

Summary: On Saturday a huge landslide swept through Snohomish County, killing 8 people and leaving 108 missing. Officials have described the mountain's current state as almost like quicksand, which is making it harder for search and rescue teams to looks for survivors. The destroyed area has piles of debris and wreckage multiple feet deep, also making it harder for crews to locate people. The governor declared a state of emergency on Sunday.

Analysis: It's always sad to hear about these types of natural disasters. It must be frustrating for the rescue workers since it's been hard for them to reach the disaster area since the ground is still so unstable. I hope that they are able to find more survivors soon and my thoughts go out to those who lost a loved one in this tragic event.
