WhatsApp, a popular social networking app was found to have hackers tracking people's phones through calls, even when they were not answered. It was stated by the by the WhatsApp company that the attack was likely a private company that works for governments to deliver spyware. It is possible that the hackers also had the ability to take over the functions of the phone. The company now claims that they have fixed this flaw in the system and encourage users to update their app for precaution.
This does not surprise me given how easily many social networking or media apps can be hacked into. WhatsApp did not let people know that their app had been attacked until the problem was fixed. We have to take their word that they fixed it, but it does raise the question, how long did the company wait before they told their users about this? What does privacy mean in this digital age? Are we ever not being tracked?
It’s sad they people can’t have privacy
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is apparent to mamy other apps we just dont know it yet
