Measles Outbreak- Gracie Zytynski

This article written by Neena Pesqueda published by Rogue Rocket discusses the recent rise of measles cases in the U.S. According to Wednesday afternoon, the measles has risen to 695 cases, the highest record since the year 2000. The CDC has confirmed the the 22 states n which the cases have been reported. This includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, and Washington. The outbreaks were most found in the Orthodox Jewish community and some are worried that cities will begin targeting them. Measles is an easily spread disease that is transferred through air and can easily be prevented by being vaccinated. This event connects to the beginning of the New World when the Native Americans populations would be wiped out due to transferred diseases from the Europeans.
