European Council Seeks Political Action in Venezuela

The International Contact Group, backed by the European Union, has stated that it wishes to avoid any sort of military action in Venezuela, opting instead for a political mission to be sent to Caracas in support of Guaido. Guaido, who invoked the Venezuelan constitution to declare himself interim president, is considered treasonous by the Maduro led faction still in de facto control of the country. The group wishes to unite with the Lima Group, another organization of nations, to put pressure on the Maduro government to give up power and end the human rights abuses in the country.
This article was written by Reuters, who consistently provide nonbiased reports of global events. I appreciate how the international community has come together against the adversary found in Maduro. I doubt the effectiveness of the political action they plan to take against him, however. This reminds me of how, during the Yugoslav War, the international community wished to resolve it peacefully through political pressure, however, human rights abuses occurred nevertheless in the territory.
