After more than 70 years, a stolen Alexander Hamilton letter may soon return home to Massachusetts- Nik Puri

Alexander Hamilton, one of the great founding fathers, wrote a letter to Marquis de Lafayette in 1780 stating that enemy force were coming to Rhode Island, putting the French Forces in danger. This letter was stolen 70 years ago by an archive employee. While the employee was arrested in 1950, it was found that documents from George Washington, Paul Revere, and Benedict Arnold were sold to rare book dealers at the time. Hamilton's letter was discovered at an auction house in Alexandria Virginia around November by a family selling the documents. Alexander Hamilton's letter had a value of approximately $25,000 and it's now in FBI custody.
