The article i chose is about a man Patrick Smith, "who was the type to always lend a helping hand", said his wife Elizabeth Smith. It wasn't out of the ordinary that he went to go check on the means of a house of a concerned next door neighbor who heard noises outside her home. Smith, 41, was shot multiple times by an alleged burglar running from officers. He spent the next eight days in the hospital, said his wife, and died on Thanksgiving day. The incident begin when the police received a call about a burglar. Meanwhile a different neighbor called their house because they heard multiple gunshot from a nearby home. When the police arrived, they chased two boys on foot to the back of the home and lost them. Smith was shot after walking to the side of the home and being confronted by one of the boys.
This is a despairing and shocking event that has happened. To think that Smith got shot and suffered/died because he was just being a concerned and checking on his neighbors. It's a coincidence that there was two phone calls about different events but happened at the same time to cause Smith to even leave his house. If he hadn't of been concerned and helping, he might not have lost his life, but if he didn't someone else could have lost theirs. This relates to history because of an incident in January 19, 2010 where Christopher Speight, 39, kills eight people at a house in Virginia. He surrenders to the police at the scene the next morning.
