Today’s current even deals with something that has not occurred in the US, but in a place where we may still be affected. In Paris, France there have been many protests going on by people known to be supporting the “Yellow Vests”. They basically stand around popular areas and wear bright reflecting yellow construction vests in attempt to get the attention of the French government as they are doing this because of their discontent with the French President, Emmanuel Macron. By his people, he is seen as arrogant and out of touch and the only way he can prove to them his worthiness is by proceeding with the actions that they want implemented. Until this is done and all of the riots and protests are finished, the French government has decided to close the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and many other popular attractions for the safety of the non-locals.
This event can be similarly connected with the event that happened in France in 1830 regarding the French common men not appreciating the royals and believing they were being down graded. This was known as the French Revolution, let’s just hope another one of those don’t happen.
Emma Burkey: I think it is important for people to stand up against their leader if they their needs do not feel heard. That being said I don't believe the use of violence on either side is necessary.
ReplyDeleteI think that violence is not something to resort to and they should just try to work out their situation without violence.
