This article was published on December 7, 2018 by CNN author Jack Guy. Executions are rising in percentage in South Sudan and children at the time of the crime are among those who has received the death penalty. Amnesty says the country has executes 7 people including a child in 2018. This is the highest number of executions being performed since South Sudan became the youngest independent nation in 2011.Amnesty worries about the other 135 death row prisoners including a fertile mother and a child. Since South Sudan's independence, the number of death rows has been doubled to 342 prisoners.
This is a violation to the right of life and the president of South Sudan needs to stop signing execution papers. Plenty of sources has tried to reach out to the government of South Sudan but was unsuccessful.
According to the Amnesty report, 4 people including 2 children were executed in 2017. The report includes the story of a 16 year old who was convicted for an "accidental" murder, but the international law states that minors, those under 18 years of age, are prohibited from being executed for a crime. 19,000 children have been forced to join the military.
In the Ancient Laws of China, the death penalty has been established as a punishment for crimes. Jews used many different techniques including stoning, hanging, beheading, crucifixion and which was copied from the Romans, as a form of execution. Britain has a long history of death punishments. Petty crimes such as theft were punishable by death. Abolitionists succeeded in ending capital murder on June 29, 1972 in the case Furman v. Georgia.

  1. That's insane how they would even want to sign that many papers for people to go on death row, because it really makes them look bad.
