Melania Trump is finally deciding to use her position as the First Lady to focus on the overall well-being of children, something she has talked about since she first stepped into office. She has visited many different hospitals and schools and had even turned the Blue Room in the White House into a "mock classroom," inviting students in middle school to share their hopes and dreams with her, obviously trying to make an effort to show that she cares about kids. To help them, she claims that she will focus on the wide range of issues children face as they grow up instead of just one specific issue.
I think it's a good thing that she's trying to help children out, but at the same time I'm not too sure how well it will turn out. I also wonder what kind of children she's helping out in the first place. Is it just some privileged little white kids, or is it children of all races? If she does want to help out a diverse group of children and won't discriminate against anyone, how successful will she be when her husband isn't someone who truly respects all races? It's a great that she's trying to do something as the First Lady and not just sitting on her butt, but how successful will she really be? There have been past First Ladies who have gotten a lot done, so I wonder if she will be one of them.
