In Nigeria the amount of women immigration from Nigeria to Europe has increased over the years from 1400 to 11000 women per year. Many women migrate to Europe in search for a better life. However the passage, although very hard, its not the most intense thing they have to go through.They are afraid of making the passage therefore they search for people who will guard their souls on the journey. Many times the guards are people who make them believe they are priest. they take many of their things including their undergarments and hair then they "curse" them. They say the only way to ensure their healthy life in the new home is paying back their sponsor in Europe. when they get there the payback price is 45000 dollars or even more and the only way of paying back is prostitution. So they make them into sex slaves and many young women end up killing themselves of the situations they go through. One women decided to go back to Nigeria to prevent other women from going through this horrible experience. Her dad disowned her for the shame she had been through.
analysis:
This is very horrifying to me. This comes to show slavery still exists to this day and even though many people try to cover it or deny it its an issue. I think the nigerian woman was very brave to come back to her home country to take an action against this. the man that exploited her into sex labor is now facing a trial.
