Kyla Thomas (1st Period)- Chance the Rapper meets with governor after Twitter exchange
Summary: This article is mainly Chance the Rapper's response to the pay cut that was taken out of the education system.Chicago Public Schools announced last month that they will cut 46 million dollars from the public school budget. Because Chance the Rapper is from Chicago, he had a strong connection to this issue. He met with Governor Bruce Rauner Friday to discuss these local issues that are currently happening, particularly in Chicago. Chance also said that Governor Rauner gave him a lot of vague answers. Rauner also vetoed a $215 million funding bill that Chicago schools were looking forward to to ease their pension burden. He further defended his choice by blaming the Democratic party for causing the school system to be in the condition that it is currently in. Clapping back, Chance the Rapper asked for a valid and historical accurate reason of how the school ended up in that condition. Chance later tweeted, "The fight just begun." They planned their meeting with each other via Twitter, also expressing their genuine gratitude for each other.
Analysis: Chance the Rapper is was born and raised in Chicago. His background has shaped the person he is today. I appreciate that even though he is famous and has 3 Grammys, he had time to care about issues in the school system and things like that. I like his down-to-earth personality. He is very open about his opposition to Donald Trump and is very expressive in his beliefs. Historically, he reminds me of Martin Luther King Jr. His outspoken voice and his appeal to the younger generation makes him a very positive image in today's society.
