Isabella Poscente- Going against school

Isabella Poscente- Going against school

Summary:A transgender student, named Ashton Whitaker is a 16 year old that goes to Tremper High School, was a girl on his birth certificate but began identifying as a boy in middle school. Whitaker has then filed a federal lawsuit to the Wisconsin school district for their discrimination and inequality throughout the school district. The school will not let him use the boys' restrooms. Also, the school teachers and students refuse to use his birth name, which this is just cruel. All of these actions the school district is doing is violating the U.S. Constitution.

Analysis/Synthesis:The article was published on the Chicago Tribune and written by the Tribune news services. The article was posted on July 20, 2016. The author’s point of view is in third person. I didn’t know specifically of this article, but I do know that this certain issue has been apparent recently in schools allowing trans in the bathroom of their choosing. This article was written for the general public and it is a negative influence because everyone should have equal rights. This article is significant because it is important to support and be on their side. This article is very similar to many events in the past with discrimination with trans people. This relates to U.S. history with the discrimination of African Americans.
