The American Health Care Act was proposed as the alternative for The Affordable Healthcare Act. Though a vote on the Proposal had been set for Friday it was withdrawn because the lack of Congressional support was clear. Both Republican and Democratic representatives were against the changes the act would make. Although it would include tax cuts (a Republican goal) it would also cause thousands of Americans to lose the healthcare provided for them now and for even more health care would become unaffordable.
This article was written by the Editorial Board at the New York Times in order to update the public on the status of health care in the nation. Although the Affordable Healthcare Act may still be repealed, hopefully this will encourage a more moderate alternative than the American Health Care Act which will further benefit Americans rather than hurt them. This example of checks and balances is similar to when FDR had a lack of congressional support for his New Deal plans.

I was thankful some of the mandates of the reformed ACA didn't take place. I agree that it was going to hurt more people than help. Looking forward to revised planned that helps even more people and hurts no one.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see checks and balances in action. Hopefully, a new plan will be more beneficial.
