Emma Sutherland - Uber president Jeff Jones is quitting after six months on the job

SUMMARY:
After only six months, Jeff Jones quits his job as President of Uber, a worldwide transportation network company. Uber said in a statement, "We want to thank Jeff for his six months at the company and wish him all the best". The company, since then, has began to search for a chief operating officer as the new No. 2 to Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber. Jones said about his departure, "The beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced with Uber". Jones had concerns of Uber's management culture, and decided to take a different path with his career. Over the past couple of months, Uber, valuing at around $68 billion, has been going through a rough patch. A #DeleteUber campaign has been making its way around since January, and even more controversy has spread throughout the month of March. Although Uber is still a highly used corporation, many high executives have resigned over the past few weeks, giving way to the possibility of a downfall for this worldwide used company.

ANALYSIS:
Prior to reading this article, I had been aware of the recent criticism of the company. It has faced many obstacles throughout the past few months because of many accusations put on them. If the sexual harassment claims against Uber are true, I most definitely support that something be done or charges should be put against them. I feel that it is very telling when multiple high executives resign from their job, especially after only six months! It makes you wonder that not only do citizens and other people distrust this this company, but if the employees themselves do, too. This article is from CNN, a very reliable source for news. This can also be related to many companies during the Industrial Revolution. Many people were fired or had to resign from their job because of the low business.

  1. I agree, when the higher up executives dont want to be associated with what is going on in the company, its kind of a hint that they dont have the situation under control and arent doing much to fix it.
