Racism in new Netflix Movie?- Josie Guthrey

In the past week, a new Netflix original movie has been released. Death Note, the new movie, is based on an extremely popular anime, Japanese animation, show that goes by the same name. Of course, many fans were ecstatic by this news but there is one problem. Light, the shows main character, will replayed by Nat Wolf, a white actor. This is controversial in many ways. The original show is Japanese, therefore should be played by a Japanese actor. But their excuse is that its an American adaptation. But just because it is an american adaptation doesn't mean the lead can't be asian!

There have been more problems with the new movie. A man by the name of Edward Zo released a youtube video saying that he auditioned for the part of Light in the new movie but was rejected for, get this,  BEING 'TOO' ASIAN! That they were not looking for asian actors! Asians are extremely underrepresented in American culture and watching this hurts me. You can always count on Hollywood being racist!

Im a big fan of Death Note and I'm EXTREMELY upset. >:(

I hope the movie is cancelled.
