Here's why Honey Nut Cheerios pulled its mascot by Macey Kanaman 8th Period

Summary: Recently, Honey Nut Cheerios has pulled its mascot from their cereal box. This is a reminder to all that the bees are dying at an incredible rate that is quite scary. Bees pollinate 35% of the world's food supply, they play an extremely big part in our world. Cheerios has begun a project, #BringBacktheBees, they are sending out 100 million packets of seeds to encourage people to plant them.

Analysis: Bees are very important to our environment and that's why they are important to me. If they continue to die at this rate, it will directly affect us. Their death is much due to pesticides, and the change of landscapes where their homes are. Two hundred years ago, no one probably knew about the huge role they played in the environment, especially agriculture. They also didn't have the technology that we do now that harms the bees and their environments. I hope that as we advance we don't destroy our Earth in the process.

  2. This makes me happy because having a huge well-known company making this effort shows how much they care, and it's glad to see not all companies are about money.

  4. Who would have thought a little bitty bee had such an impact on the food industry! I think it's wonderful that such a large cereal company would use advertising to take a stance for an environmental conflict! I hope to help make a difference in saving the bees!!
