Travel Ban Dampens Persian New Year Celebration- Grace Schwall

This article explains how the recent travel ban has effected celebration of the Persian New Year Nowruz many Iranian-American families are prevented this year from celebrating the important holiday with their relatives in Iran. These families are legal immigrants however they feel leaving the United States for Iran is too big of a risk. They are even concerned they will not get to see their relatives again.

This article was written by Jennifer Medina from the New York Times. Its purpose is to show the effects of governmental foreign policy on the everyday lives of Americans. Iranians immigrated to America to find religious and cultural freedom and it is extremely concerning they feel that the US may not offer these things anymore. During WW2 even civilians  were effected by foreign policy in Europe. Today all US citizens are affected by US foreign policy towards the Middle East.
