Mexico ready to hit America where it hurts- Camryn Stafford

Summary:
Mexico is transitioning from buying corn from the US to buying it from Brazil and Argentina as stated by Mexican senator Armando Rios Peter at an anti- Trump protest in Mexico City. This is one of the first potential concrete actions from Mexico in response to Trump's threats, including him threatening taxes on Mexican imports and him demanding that Mexico pay and build a separating wall. Since the NAFTA agreement between Mexico, America and Canada, America's corn shipments to Mexico have increased greatly. Today, corn goes into a lot of the food in Mexico and would cripple part of America's agricultural economy if it was no longer bought by Mexico.
Analysis:
Shasta Darlington from CNN contributed reporting to this story. The author is American so the article is less biased than it may be if a Mexican reporter had written it. The article was produced today at 12:03 so it is very recent and relevant to current situations and his happening at this very moment. Throughout the election I was aware of Donald Trump threatening to build a wall. I am glad that Mexico isn't putting up with it and is threatening back instead of complying. I believe the article was written for the rest of Americans and even Mexicans who are worried about the effect of Donald Trump's actions on their economies and lifestyles. The Article is telling the audience about Mexico's resistance to such actions. This action can be compared to America not buying from Germany or using german words during World War I.

  1. Considering President Trump's rude and insensitive remarks about Mexican immigrants and immigration policies, these punishments and measures are well-deserved.

  2. Is good to see that Mexico is looking for alternative foreign trade with other countries after the NAFTA agreement with Canada and US is in jeopardy.
