In California lies the tallest dam in the nation. Over 12 years ago, the Oroville Dam was warned of showing signs of potential overflow. Warnings including heavy rain and fast rising waters were given. A suggestion was to put concrete near the dam to discontinue the overflow and water build up. However, these fatal signs were ignored by the citizens of California. Reports have said that after recent heavy storms, the Dam was overflowed which caused erosion. This then caused a hole the size of a football field to occur in the spillway.
Overall, the lack of maintenance given to the environment is lackluster. In order to preserve this world, we must take care of it, and follow warning signs. This is similar to the deforestation that took place in history.
Maintenance is the key and the responsibility of the local leadership, maybe they need some new leaders there. Hopefully they will get through this without a catastrophe and have repairs made when the water goes down.
ReplyDeleteI think it is kind of dumb for them to just ignor something that could cause so much damage the threaten the lives of the citizens.
