Summary: Climate change seems to be the biggest cause this day of the ocean’s loss of oxygen. Warm water has a hard time holding in oxygen, and along with this factor is the reduction of sea ice in the Arctic. Since there is a reduction of sea ice, plankton begins to grow and its decomposition decreases the oxygen levels. In an ocean, the lowest area with the least amount of oxygen are called “dead zones.” Most sea life can’t thrive there and it’s also dangerous because it sends out a harmful greenhouse gas called nitrous oxide which doesn’t mix well with carbon dioxide. Nitrous oxide contributes to global warming, so climate change also is a cause of global warming. If we want to see change, it’s important people don’t overlook things such as “consuming less and recycling more.” "The oceans are really a mirror of human health -- if they're sick and dying, then that's the future of humanity as well."
Analysis: It’s important that society is still reminded to be aware of the cleanliness of our environment because it does affect us more than we realize. This article is informing to all people that the ocean is struggling to provide life and we are responsible in some ways. It’s easy to forget little things such as recycling can impact our lives significantly. The Industrial Revolution was a time of heavy pollution because of new factories and improvements in machinery/technology. Also, the Clean Water Act of 1972 and the Clean Air Act of 1970 were helpful in response to a safe environment.

It's important for the US to take steps now to prevent the future ruin of the oceans.
