Katie Haidet: SeaWorld's Tilikum Orca Whale is Dead

Summary: Tilikum, an orca whale at SeaWorld killed one of SeaWorlds trainers in 2010. Tilikum passed away from an infection in January. Animal rights activists are pushing SeaWorld Orlando to release more information about how their orca whale died. SeaWorld recently announced that an examination found that Tilikum died from bacterial pneumonia, but activists want to know where that infection came from, and if the orca had any other injuries. Tilikum starred in the documentary “Blackfish” which turned many people against the idea of holding orcas captive. Deaths of sea-creatures have been kept from the public since 1994, when Congress amended the Marine Mammal Protection Act after industry lobbying. SeaWorld said Tilikum is still being studied and that they will release their findings upon completion.

Analysis: This article was published on to ABC News. This article is once again releasing the the public the errors of SeaWorld. After the documentary of Tilikum was released about the cons of holding orca whales captive, as they slowing go insane. Tilikum killed a total of 3 people. Since the orca whale passed away I hope that SeaWorld does not adopt another and retire their orca whale show, for they are already separated with barrels so they can not attack again.
