Every other college is tightening security against guns, but not at Liberty university. Jerry Falwell Jr. is advising his students to buy arms. He claimed that if more "good people" are armed, "those Muslims" will be less likely to shoot. His words upset many Muslims, as it stereotyped them. Hooper, a Muslim representative, said that Muslim bigotry has grown, especially after the 9/11 terror attacks. This speech was made in light of the San Bernardino mass shooting. There is speculation whether this was a terror attack. The shooter attended a work holiday luncheon, then abruptly left. He soon returned with a woman, both wearing army fatigues, and shot randomly. He then got into a shootout with cops. Falwell is upset that the president believes that gun control is the answer.
I completely agree with president Obama: gun control is in fact the answer. I think that the chances of more "bad" people getting ahold of guns at Liberty may be more likely than "good" people getting guns. I think that Falwell's view is very myopic.
This connects to APUSH, because after the 9/11 attacks, there was heavy prejudice against Muslims. Several innocent people were being vandalized and jailed after the disgusting attack. Muslim bigotry is still real, and there are many uneducated people that believe that terror is apart of the religion of Islam.

I think it makes the likelihood of a shooting at Liberty much higher, but would make the severity of it much lower, as the shooter could be quickly killed by another student carrying a firearm. Pros and cons to everything, I guess.
