"NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 15 days of total darkness between November 15 and November 29, 2015. The event, according to NASA, hasn’t occurred in over 1 Million years.
Astronomers from NASA have indicated that the world will remain in complete darkness starting on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 3 a.m. and will end on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 4:15 p.m. According to officials, the “November Black Out” event will be caused by another astronomical event between Venus and Jupiter.
Charles Bolden, who was appointed to head of NASA by President Obama, issued a 1000 page document explaining the event to the White House."
This article then points out that NewsWatch33 is not a legitimate news outlet. But, most people who are reading about this don't realize that this only for entertainment, and is not real fact. It also states that NewsWatch33 is responsible for outrageous (and false) rumors that spread throughout social media: that a girl was electrocuted by her headphones, $4 million dollars were raised by Charleston shooting suspect Dylan Roof, and that Jay-Z and Beyonce purchased rights to the Confederate flag.
This article is not targeted to a specific audience, but it is clearly obvious that they strongly disagree with NewsWatch33 and their false claim. It only takes one false article, one false tweet, one false post, and whoever reads it, will believe it! It's a little alarming to think of how fast something spreads on social media; whether it is true information or not. I'm glad this article exists to stop rumors and drama that isn't needed on social media; there's already enough of it.

The internet is a very dangerous place in this way... Once it's out there, everyone can see it. Information like this can potentially cause a lot of commotion among the web too. I hope they get this cleared up. -Sophie Kurzius, 8th
ReplyDeleteMatthew Homsher 9th- I wanted the NASA article to be true. That would be a really cool thing to see. I feel bad for everybody who read that because you know they're going to be outside at 4 a.m. in the morning for nothing. It's not fair for people who're actually searching for information.
