Legal Marijuana in Illinois- Nicole Chatham 6th period

The article that I read this week talks about legal marijuana and its effect on a town in Illinois. Ataraxia, a marijuana cultivation company, has set up several centers in Illinois including one of particular importance! The historic town of Albion is now home to legal marijuana and it is already making positive changes within its 1,900 person community. Despite the unlikely location, the marijuana cultivation center is sparking hope for the town by providing jobs and improving the local economy!

Analysis- This article is very interesting! Not only is this legal marijuana providing a source of revenue for the community, but it is also helping with medical treatments for those in need of it! I can relate this article back in U.S. history to when the cash crop of tobacco was introduced by John Rolfe. This crop not only provided plenty of revenue for the colonists, but also proved to be a key factor in sustaining the colony of Jamestown as it became a strong economic basis.

  1. That's very interesting. People sometimes forget all of the benefits marijuana has, like providing jobs and medical purposes. I think this is a interesting take on the matter.
