Last Gun Store in San Francisco // Kai Jones 1st period

According to this article the last gun store in San Francisco, California, is closing. The store owner says that they just cannot stay open with the amount of opposition they are facing. This opposition comes in the form of stricter gun laws and just the strong voiced opinion of the public. A law was proposed by a local politician that would require the store to take video of all gun purchases and give a report of weekly ammunition purchases to the authorities. The gun shop owner has of course gained lots of sympathy from lots of gun enthusiasts across the country. High Bridge Arms, the gun store, will close on October 31st.

We do need stricter gun laws in a lot more cities but we must certainly find a balance between lots of gun and no guns at all. The second amendment was made so that people could protect themselves but its gotten to the point where we need to protect each other by making guns less easier to access. Gun control won't stop people from killing each other of course, but it will make it harder to. San Francisco is making a great stride towards gun control and hope that more cities will follow. Especially after the most recent shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

  1. Many countries have extremely strict gun laws, but it doesn't make it impossible to get one, making the gun casualties far less than the United States and I feel like it would be a good idea to follow something similar to that (Bella Di Fazio pd:8)
