Gun violence, school shootings by Eleanor E-W

Yet another school shooting has occurred, this one in Oregon. America is the only country in which this seems to happen over and over again.  It's clear that gun violence is a huge problem in America, and something needs to be done. Some people think we need better gun control, some people think we need better mental healthcare, some people we should do nothing.
In my opinion, these shooting should be a wake up call--something needs to change! We really need better gun control laws. In my opinion, the less guns the better. We should certainly start implementing background check, and making it a lot more difficult for people to by guns. Some people feel that his would violate the second amendment (right to bear arms) and therefore the constitution, however it's important to remember that we are living in a very different time then when the constitution was written and need to adjust our laws accordingly.

  1. Better gun control is a must, though I also think a better, more affordable mental health care system can work in tandem to help prevent these kinds of tragedies (Zoe Roberts 3rd)

  2. I agree with you!!! Our gun control laws really need to be improved, especially background checks. And parents/the owners of the guns need to lock them up tight, so other people can't get to them as easily!! There's this scary site that has a bunch of mass shooting statistics from this year on it, it's really eye-opening to look at because we only hear about the ""interesting"" shootings from the news, but they happen constantly!
