This such a sad thing to hear. My thoughts go out to the family of this cancer patient. I don't think this could really be avoided but the IAEA is ding everything they can to fix it. This relates back to many instances where Americans have been brought together to help by a tragedy and the brave people who help have become sick, for instance the devastating Hurricane Katrina.

ReplyDeleteWhat I find admirable about this is that there was public awareness of the risks of what might happen if one were to aid in cleanup, and yet there was still an overwhelming group of volunteers. These people risked their lives for their fellow Japanese citizens and the environment. These people need to be celebrated, as we may be seeing the effects of Fukushima sooner than anticipated.
I agree with Carlos. These people risked their lives to save others and the environment, however I am nervous that it will start an outbreak which could be incredibly disastrous in a country with so many people.
