Summary: A decade ago, John McCain took a topple due to his views on immigration. His goal: Comprehensive Immigration Reform.Trump has taken this opinion into consideration when asking congress to solve the immigration problem. In 2012, Republicans tried to reform the immigration crisis, but John Bohener was struck down by other conservatives, and the proposed bill never reached a vote. More recently, the President has struck down DACA, a program that has kept working immigrants in the country. Now, Trump has tasked congress with the problem of immigration reform, an issue which he has already made worse.

My opinion: While Trump has used powerful rhetoric saying he wants to reform immigration, with the striking down of DACA he has negated those words, and by tasking to congress, he has told America, in a nutshell, "I give up. Let congress figure something out." In the end, the solution could be drastically worse than its predecessor, DACA, which seemed to be helping thousands of immigrants.

  1. I completely agree, DACA is most likely the better option compared to any solution he could come up with. The proposed immigration ban blocking people of certain nationality from entering the country didn't work, and his immigration reform most likely won't work either

  2. To deport immigrants who remained here under DACA, would create catastrophic results to our economy. These immigrants are amazingly productive and many provide services that would be difficult if not impossible to replace.

  3. It's really sad to see him take away DACA when it was helping so many people. I just can't but wonder how badly it will affect all the children and where they'll all go and how people will get back on their feet.

  4. How do you think the government would deal with the deportation of about 800,000 people who were registered under DACA? Also what do you think of the current citizenship process? is it too long and complicated?

  5. Presidents are supposed to make changes that will better our country and frankly, I don't see how taking DACA away betters our country. It sucks to have a president that wants to give up when he's supposed to be persistent, a role model for many.
