Ellie Bush- Hurricane Harvey

The service has began moving helicopters out of Texas and into Puerto Rico, Florida, and Georgia since Hurricane Irma is coming. We don't know exactly where Hurricane Irma will hit, but it is most likely going to be the US. The forecasts have Irma coming to the US East Coast as soon as Saturday or Sunday. Tropical storms are supposed to be arriving in Florida on Friday. Officials have stated that there were at least 57 deaths related to Hurricane Harvey.

This article was probably written to raise awareness to keep everyone safe during hurricanes. Since Harvey just hit, it should be a wake up call to officials to make sure they are protecting everybody. This article is revenant to us today because we are possibly having two hurricanes hit back to back. This is devastating because of how fresh Harvey is. Since Houston is very close to us, many people here were affected by this hurricane. Many people including myself have family near there. Overall, this article is trying to convey how we should keep people safe during hurricanes and try to lessen the number of injuries and deaths as much as possible.

This can be connected to Hurricane Ike, which hit not too long ago, which was also very close to us.

  2. I agree with the fact that we should keep people safe during and try our best to lessen the number of injuries and deaths. I read about a story of a family opening up their home to another family who lost their home to Hurricane Harvey. (they did not know eachother before the hurricane hit) I found it amazing that they opened their home to help keep other people (even though they were strangers) safe. I feel that if everyone in the U.S. was this aware and caring of other people, there would be much less injuries and casualties.

  3. The amount of hurricanes headed for the U.S. is alarming. Articles like these ones that are raising awareness should be taken seriously for people in harm's way, like you said they are trying to keep everyone safe.
