On early Monday morning, president Trump tweeted about special counsel Robert Mueller's witnesses to his Russia investigation, and legal experts are arguing that his recent tweets might possibly be obstructing justice. Trump has also recently been tweeting and making claims about his ex personal attorney Michael Cohen who pleaded guilty in the last week for lying under oath about the presidents project in Russia. Trump said that Cohen deserved to “serve a full and complete sentence.” Directly following said tweets came a tweet about Roger Stone Saying “I will never testify against Trump.’ This statement was recently made by Roger Stone, essentially stating that he will not be forced by a rogue and out of control prosecutor to make up lies and stories about ‘President Trump.’ Nice to know that some people still have ‘guts!’”. These tweets have aroused some suspicion claiming that they are possibly incriminating because Trump was rewarding someone for not turning on him and not telling the truth under oath, while bagging on someone who in the end did the right thing. People like Norman Eisen (senior fellow at the Brookings Institution) have said that “It comes very close to the statutory definition of witness tampering...” with Trumps persuasion through his posts on Twitter.
This article was written on December 3rd, 2018 by Deanna Paul. I found this article interesting mainly because at the end of the article it claimed that president Trumps tweets could help sway the house to possible impeachment. The article also referred to past impeachment and alluded to the fact that Trumps tweets could be cause enough to look further into impeachment for obstruction of justice. A historic event that reminds me of this incident is when King George the III of England tried to gain a tighter grip on the 13 colonies, which ultimately ended in revolution. Trump thinks he can just say what he wants and get away with it however, hopefully the people will start to fight back just like they did in the revolution. Its time Trump got punished for his actions and with democrats having majority in the house impeachment might possibly become a reality.
