Whoa. On Tuesday, Kanye West tweeted that he believed 400 years of slavery to be a choice, a mental one that is. His tweets immediately sparked tones of comments calling his ridiculous statement into question. Kanye later tweeted that he believed everyone to be taking him out of context, as he believed that because numbers were on the side of African Americans, the idea of slavery was only a mental handicap.
People are very upset by his belittling comments toward his own race, and his easy ability to say that people could have simply opted out of slavery if they really wished to hard enough.
