One of the main issues going on in this country right now is regarding gun laws and gun safety. on one hand, people are saying that they need guns o protect themselves, and on the other hand, people are saying that this easy access to guns can only result in negative consequences.but, the facts and statistics are clear. Per year, there are 358 armed attacks in America, about one a day, and thousands of people have been injured, hundreds killed. Sure, some may make the argument that without guns, people "won't be able to protect themselves," but what would they need to protect themselves from? If people didn't have guns, there wouldn't be a need for this protection. Additionally, easy access to guns means that 1) Getting into an argument can easily result in someone's death, and 2) this gives children access to firearms, which endangers not only the children, but also those around them.
America has always been about personal safety and freedom, but right now, we don't need guns to protect ourselves, we have better and more developed technology that can ensure our safety. We are not living in colonial times anymore. If America is as great as many think it is, why should you be scared to live without a gun? Possession of firearms causes more harm than good, and yet people are still arguing that it's vital to daily life.
