Zoe Norton-Rodriguez 8 person supreme court

http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/24/politics/stephen-breyer-eight-person-supreme-court/index.html

A democratic Justice named Stephen Breyer isn't concerned about the even numbered supreme court. One would assume that this can make an issue split 50/50 and therefore it would be hard to make decisions however,  Breyer says that there is usually a large margin of difference.

This is important because theres over half a year until the next president is appointed so I hope that this isn't a issue. Anyway, having 8 means that there is equal republican and democrats so that is good as long as the population is equally republican and democrat

  1. The problem is the court has no power then and can't make descisive descicions. It leaves many issues unresolved since a 4-4 vote sends it down to the state.

  3. Ideally, this would be a nice way to get equal representation of republican and democratic opinions on a case. Depending on who becomes president, that political party will most likely fill up a majority of the Supreme Court.
