A step in gun control-Paul Radke (5th)

Summary- Gun control advocates are launching a new regulatory push in California to impose first-in-the-nation instant background checks for ammunition sales, a move that comes as gun violence surfaces as a lightning rod issue rod issue in the 2016 presidential race.
Analysis- This is a step in less gun violence that has a lot of benefits but also may not help us in terms of gun control. The way this could be good is that people have to get a background check before they buy ammo which will make more dangerous people not able to buy ammo to fill their guns as well as make it harder for criminals to get their hands on ammo. The law will also say that the owners of large capacity ammunition magazines will have to turn them in before buying more ammo. But the down side to that is that people that have committed these mass school shootings have not had any criminal background up until then, and it is not just in school shootings. No law will ever be enough to stop these shootings.

I think this is a step in the right direction, but I also think that it could be taken even further. In countries with total gun control like Canada and Australia, there are almost no gun deaths at all, especially compared with America.

  2. It's good that they are beginning to try and gain gun control. Although I am not sure they will truly be able to resolve the recent gun issues, it's good that they are taking steps in the right direction.
