Only three people who had even met Robert Gray knew that he was running for Governor of Mississippi before seeing the ballot, those people were the two people who took his $300 filing fee and papers and the candidate for agriculture commissioner. His own mother didn't even know he was running until she saw his name on the ballot and voted for him. Gray, who did not campaign at all, beat two other individuals.
Robert Gray is a 46 year old, soft-spoken trucker who lives just south of Jackson, Mississippi with his mother. He prefers not to talk to strangers for fear of interrupting them, which is why he did not campaign at all. Gray lists no specific problems that caused him to want to run for Governor of Mississippi. He accentuates a more broad mentality of don't do what the last guy did because people didn't like him.
It is interesting that people would elect someone with no prior political experience and who they had never even heard of to be the democratic primary for the governor of their state, and maybe some people would even go so far as to elect someone with no prior political experience as president of the United States.
Matthew Homsher 9th- I think it'll all work out for Mississippi, but I wouldn't advise voting for people you don't know. much less for someone with no experience. I also hope that we'll never vote for a president like that.

ReplyDeleteI agree, a governor should have some political experience but it is also important for them to have strong views and plans for what they will do. -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
