Users have been able to report something as false information since the beginning of 2015. However, now they are given the option to send this to a third party fact checker. After a significant amount of people have flagged something as false the fact checkers will be notified. When more than one fact checker has identified something as fake it will appear to users as disputed news.
Analysis: False information has influenced many voters in this year's election. Many of Facebook's users believe whatever headline appears on their news feed. Some feel (conservatives and right wing media) that having the third party fact checkers could corrupt and censor real and significant news.
However, for each thing labeled as disputed there will evidence giving support as to way it is false.
This is good that Facebook is doing this because there are so many people that believe the wildest stories. Although some people will believe them anyway. Something should be done about the false news reports on TV as well.
