Kobe Williams (1st Period) - 1.9 Million Pounds of Chicken Recalled

Recently, National Steak and Poultry recalled an estimated 1,993, 528 pounds of its chicken products. This was because the chicken was supposed to be fully cooked and ready to be heated and served, but some meats had the possibility of being uncooked. Which harbors bacteria that can lead to illnesses (definitely not good). The recall began November 23, with about 17, 439 pounds being taken away. However, because of a customer's complaint on November 28, they were prompted to expand on this recall. Luckily, there are no confirmed reports of illnesses from these products so far.

As Americans, food is a VERY important topic. So the fact that so many pounds of chicken product had to be taken away in fear of potential harm to someone is no joking matter. Whether it was in fear of being sued or for the care of the customers, I commend National Steak and Poultry for taking such immediate actions to this situation. Though I'm very curious about how they plan to compensate for this conflict.

  1. Big corporations need to get a grip on what their distributing to the public; if they had been more careful we wouldn't have this problem.

  2. It's good to hear no one became ill because of the uncooked chicken and thankfully they got the word out quickly. I agree that the company should have a better handle on what goes out.

  3. It worries me that we hear story after story of food recalls. We should not be fearful that our food is unfit to be eaten.
