Not that Trump will be stopped from becoming president, but that there are people in our government system who are brave enough to stand up to his iron fist. This Texan elector ignores the scrutiny he will undoubtedly receive as backlash, and fights for what he believes in.
Synthesis: It is not particularly common for a member of the electoral college to vote against his or her party, but it does happen. This event can synthesize to the election of 1836, in which 23 electoral voters were unfaithful to their parties.
