Madison Harvey - Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Others

Summary - For months Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has camped out in protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline construction near Cannon Ball, North Dakota.  There has been thousands of protesters fighting for the protection of their land and water.  The protestors consist of members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe along with many non-members that are protesting along with them.  This past Sunday the US Army Corps of Engineers said it would look into rerouting the pipeline which is good news for the protestors even though the company that is building the pipeline said it would fight to continue on as planned.  Some of the protestors that are not members of the Tribe are like Luna and Misha Meng who traveled there from Port Townsend, Washington and brought food and supplies and are also staying for the protest.  Another person is Ramsi Tora an outdoor educator for the inner city youth came from Harlem in New York City and Mike Cobb from Portland, Oregon.

Analysis - This article was written by Jessica Ravitz with CNN and published on December 5, 2016.  The reason for the article is to inform the public of the latest news about the protest and also to show everyone about the unity, humanity and compassion people all over the country are having regarding this cause.  It is extremely heartwarming to see this take place in this day and time.  History is truly being made and I hope to see even more people get involved.
