Shade thrown towards Madonna's Prince tribute
Madonna's tribute to the late pop star Prince was not appreciated by many. In fact, before the performance even happened on Sunday, May 22, 2016, there was a petition signed by almost 9,000 speaking against the tribute, according to the article by CNN Entertainment. the organization the started the petition, Change.org, said, "He is more than worthy of a better choice as a main performer." Other organization took to tweeting to throw their shade. One being, BET, who advertising for their upcoming BET awards by posting a shady video regarding the video.

Personally, I didn't watch Madonna's tribute, so I don't really have an opinion on the actual performance, however for people to pass judgement before the performance even happened sounds like pure jealousy and hatred to me. Sure, Madonna isn't black or male and may not play the same type of music as Prince did, however she has still accomplished just as much, was alive and making music during his time, and in my opinion is just as legendary. It would make sense to have someone represent him who is up to par with what he was and I believe Madonna is that. You don't have to be Madonna fan to respect her accomplishments as an artist.

  1. I didn't watch the performance either so I may be speaking from ignorance but I agree with you on most of what you said. I think it's fine to have an opinion and sometimes you can't help your bias of some people but I don't think you should bash someone's accomplishments in an attempt to lift someone else up (which is what some of the disapproving commenters seem to be doing). Whoever chose Madonna for the tribute must have had a reason.
