Summary: Vile Racism forces Fox to close comments on their Malia Obama Article. Malia Obama spoke out about her finally deciding what college she wanted to go to. She decided that she will be attending Harvard University after a gap year before beginning her education. Her decision was not life or death news yet people of social media have made it into a problem. Many people began to post racist comments such as "sounds like black privilege to me" and "I wonder if she applied as a muDslime..or a foreign student..or just a Ni@@er" . Fox news took it upon themselves to try and prevent any further vile racism and put a stop to the comments. However some would still like to make an honorable moment of a 17 year old girls life a issue.
Analysis: Once again the stupidity of people with access to social media have struck again. I do not recall there being a problem with Malia deciding what college she wanted to go to. She's worked hard and not only tried to prove that to her family but to America. If it was another 17 year old girl who had a news story about deciding what college she chose, it wouldn't have the same amount of negative attention. Now not all of America has gone to the dark side, but the issue of racism is still very much alive. It saddens me to see that after all the success we've made in the past with ending segregation and creating equality that some idiot people still chose to be this way. Yet there mostly the ones complaining about how many problems there are with America today, not knowing that they're contributing to those issues.

I mean she got into Harvard, that's a big deal and she deserves it because at least she's not doing drugs or anything like some teens out there.

ReplyDeleteI don't know Malia's grades in high school or her test scores, but I bet if Harvard had been given only her qualifications they would have accepted her not knowing that she was the President's daughter. Some people just don't have the heart to realize what hard work is.
The ignorance level of some people is ridiculous. How did a young girl getting into Harvard turn into a racial issue, specifically back privilege? Rather than bashing her for her choice of college or race, we all should be uplifting her for her accomplishment and sending her well wishes for her gap year.
