Why Germany just closed their doors on refugees- Bernadette Negrete 8th

Summary: The European Migrant crisis consist of several million refuges escaping from civil war on Christians in Syria. The country is torn and millions are fleeing their homes to Germany causing a overload of refuges. At first Germany helped with free travel to help them escape but until recently they initiated a border control ,stopping all refugees from coming in unless they have papers. They recently initiated this system because they wernt prepared for the amount of people arriving and it is severely affecting them. The number of people that came in is astounding and they need help. The Germans are calling for an emergency European Union meeting to help find a solution.

Analysis: I understand why the Germans have stopped incoming refuges but they cant expect the closing of their border to stop any issues. The  migrants are just going to keep piling up and will Cross anyways. What i don't understand is why they sent all their officers to the border to enforce this new rule when the they can use the officers to help all the refuges that are already in Germany. From what ive gathered in the news, the Germans are having trouble keeping the amount of people already in Germany housed and documented. The police officers they sent to the border could be helping getting the current refuges situated and document instead. And if the officers were doing this, it would allow more refuges to be brought in and documented. It allow the documentation process to be separated into chunks. In the end it would allow a safer and quicker process of migration.

  1. I agree with you, it seems like blocking off the border would just create more problems. It sucks that Germany is getting flooded with all these people, but there are better solutions than not letting anyone in

  2. Although the refugees already within Germany may need help from German guards many of them are already getting the help the need from family members(and the ones who arent are at least safer there than in syria) and Germany shouldnt have to put even more money to the refugees than they already have because they are already under strain. I disagree when you say that they shouldn't station officers on the border because, although it may not stop the amount of refugees getting in it will certanly slow them down until germany finds a solution. 3. I agree that they should continue to let the refugees in, but I also think that more European countries should help them by opening their doors to the refugees. Germany would not be as flooded with people if other places were as willing to let people in as Germany originally was. -Claudia Anthony
